Where Everything is Music
Don’t worry about saving these songs!
And if one of our instruments breaks,
it doesn’t matter.
We have fallen into the place
where everything is music.
The strumming and the flute notes
rise into the atmosphere,
and even if the whole world’s harp
should burn […]
“Would you tell me, please, which way I ought to walk from here?” asked Alice.
“That depends a good deal on where you want to get to,” said the Cat.

This picture is from one of my walking excursions this week, at Crescent Beach. If you are on the west coast and have a chance to […]
It’s an ongoing goal of mine to keep increasing my steps on the pedometer until 10K is a normal day. As the kids’ fall schedules kick into full swing this coming week, I’m looking forward to 10K+ days on a regular basis!
This past week when I was still recuperating, I checked out Leslie Sansone’s […]
Today I tried Kathy Smith Flex Appeal - A belly dance workout. I had read some mixed reviews about it, but I wasn’t looking for anything ambitious–just a kind and gentle workout that would get me moving. Since I am in no position to judge, I will not comment on Kathy’s belly dancing […]
Why is 10 K a day the goal for pedometer users? 10,000 steps seems like a lofty goal for me recently, when energy levels have been low. Dr Catrine Tudor-Locke recommends the following classification indications:
Under 5000 steps per day - sedentary lifestyle
5000-7499 s/d - low active
7500-9999 s/d- somewhat active
10000 s/d - active
12500 + […]
Walking to the aquarium made for a huge step day on our pedometers. We walked from Waterfront Station along the seawall to Stanley Park, which took about 45 minutes. It was a gorgeous walk and the perfect day for it!
With the ocean on one side, and some of Vancouver’s heritage architecture on the other […]
Here’s a screen shot of the pedometer software I’ve been using. It’s super easy to use, and measures steps, aerobic steps, distance walked, aerobic time, calories and fat burned. You can view daily, weekly, monthly and yearly. The pedometer displays the last seven days, but holds 41. You do have to remember […]
I’ve now installed the software for the Omron 720 and am learning how to use it. I have programmed in two goals–one for total steps, and one for aerobic steps–and download my daily data from the pedometer. Day 5, and I’m thinking I’ve set my goals a little on the high side, since so far […]
On days when motivation is elusive, or I don’t have time for my usual workouts, I have a variety of dvds ready to pop into the machine. Blast away 10 lbs with Denise Austin is one of my favorites, especially the first workout on the disk, because she uses kick boxing which I really enjoy. […]
I stumbled across a fun site yesterday called MapMyRun. It allows you to log swims, hikes, runs, bike rides, like many other sites, but also allows you to map your route, wherever in the world you are. Then you can view it in 3D or satellite maps, or share it with friends. It has […]
