Simple steps week 4

It’s week 4 of the Simple Steps program. Each week the program introduces 4 new habits, one each for nutrition, fitness, home and self. The trick is that they accumulate, so obviously, you have to keep doing the ones from the previous weeks. This week’s habits are:

  1. Replace bad fats with good fats daily
  2. Dance to one song every day
  3. Clean out your fridge & pantry
  4. Floss & clean teeth twice daily

Again, pretty straightforward week. I think most of us try to keep only healthy fats in the house, and check labels so we’re not buying trans or hydrogenated fats. This week could be used to introduce a new healthy oil to your kitchen.

Dancing combines aerobic activity with music therapy. Besides being good for your body, it’s good for your spirit.

I’ve got a big head start on my fridge since a jug of juice on the top shelf accidentally knocked itself over this weekend, enabling me to disassemble and clean the entire fridge and all of it’s sticky contents… Having an organized fridge and pantry streamlines eating habits and menu planning. Hopefully utilizing this habit will contribute to the $2.+change/day habit.

Gum disease has been linked to heart disease and stroke, and may put you at greater risk of developing diabetes. Floss and brush for two minutes at least twice daily for a healthy smile.

  1. Oh my goodness! Floss twice a day? I think that’s an excellent idea. Now I just have to do it. I’m diligent about once per day; now I’ll have to step it up. I also think dancing is a marvelous idea for the very reason you state: it’s good for the spirit.
I’m very fortunate in that my husband excels in cleaning the pantry and fridge! What more could I ask for?

  2. “Dance to one song every day ” I love this one :)
