Walking at Crescent Beach

This picture is from one of my walking excursions this week, at Crescent Beach. If you are on the west coast and have a chance to visit White Rock, it’s definitely worth it.
I’ve been having fun with my new habits so far! I have to admit, since they’re all things that are important to me already, it hasn’t been too much of a shakeup. However, I’m finding that actually focusing on them, writing them in my pocket calendar, ensures that they happen.
We all know the benefits of walking; toning, cardiovascular, physical health, as well as mental and emotional. What I’ve enjoyed this week is appreciating the versatility of walking, something I often take for granted. Of course, we don’t always have time to exercise on the beach or climb a mountain, as much as I would enjoy that! Even in our busy daily lives, there is always time for a little walk, and the spur of the moment ones can be the most fun.
For example, I decided for my closet this week to focus on the walk-in one of a certain little fashionista in the household. Going through her things gave us an opportunity to get together some bags to donate. As we walked to the drop off, the children decided on the spur of the moment to go for a hike at the park. Our 20 minute brisk walk turned into a fabulous 90 minute one! (As a parent, it pays to be flexible.) Other days, we are so busy that our walks consist of running to and from activities, backpacks and umbrellas in tow.
So whether you are climbing stairs at the train station on your way to work, pushing a grocery cart or stroller, walking your dog, or enjoying a sunny day at the beach, I wish you lots of enjoyment on your walks!
