Another day of loving
Valentine’s Day is a time for remembering and celebrating romance. In our family it is a special time of year as we also celebrate an anniversary. I have to admit, we do the non-commercial version. Handwritten notes are definitely preferable to mass produced.
Of course, it is important to celebrate romantic love, but I believe the holiday should encompass all kinds of Love. We encounter Love in so many forms and unexpected places during our lives. Where it has been, there is sometimes an empty place, with pain and loss, but it leaves seeds, memories and gifts that can be passed on, neglected, horded or shared.
So today I celebrate Love, in all it’s forms. Love of Nature. Love of Music. Poetry. Art. A first kiss. The Love of a Child. A Pet. A Beloved who after decades together still makes my heart flutter. A patient Parent and Grandparent. A Brother. A Stranger who has come to my rescue. A Friend who picks me up, time after time.

.…To wake at dawn with a winged heart and give thanks for another day of loving… Kahlil Gibran
- Love brings peace and contentment.
- Love brings connection and unity.
- Love is kind and generous.
- The act of loving can be its own reward, but the more you practice, the more you experience.
- Love conquers all. It is the antidote to negative emotions.
- Love heals. People who love and are loved tend to be happier and healthier.

Hi! I hope you enjoyed your Valentine’s Day as we did. We went out for a meal and my wife brought me flowers. I indeed had a special day. Take Care - Peter!
This is lovely, and I could not agree more. We try to seek out people who may be lonely on Valentines - an elderly friend or a lonely neighbor - and make them a card or buy chocolates to let them know we are thinking of them and appreciate them as friends. I really like your quote!
I loved your thoughts on love and V day!
Thanks Peter…sounds like you have a very special relationship! I had a nice Valentines too
Thanks Keli! I did write this post with my Dad in mind, who has lost 2 wives already. He is an inspiration to everyone who knows him, and I love him a lot… I always love your quotes too!!
Thanks Mark…I really enjoyed your blog. Lots of informative articles…I also understood your posts on love. Very important and never wasted…
Hi! Hope you had a wonderful Valentine’s day. Loved the quote
and the picture too.
What a beautiful post.
I’m a hopeless romantic at heart. I firmly believe in showing my wife how much I lover her every day of the year, but on Valentines day I still make a special effort.
I always cook her a nice meal, add some candles and give her a handmade card with words from my heart rather than some writer in an apartment somewhere.
I totally believe that love makes us happier, and there’s not enough of it this frenetic world of ours.
Great post, very nice blog.
