Pedometer update
I’ve been using the Omron 720 pedometer for a couple of weeks now. I’ve only set two goals: 10,000 steps, and 60 minutes of aerobic steps daily. I admit, I haven’t been consistently meeting those goals. 10 K is not really difficult to do if you are out and about all day. Aerobic steps are tricky, as I’ve already posted. I actually walk quite a bit during the day, but since we are in a very urban area, things like intersections and line ups interfere with the aerobic steps count. Here are a few things I’ve learned in the past week:
- I finally figured out the clip. It does work, you just have to flip it 90°.
- I can make my cardio/kick boxing workout count as aerobic steps by skipping the warm up and launching right into it as soon as returning home from running errands (on foot).
- Although the belly dance workout doesn’t add aerobic steps, it does add a few hundred overall steps.
- Circling the block once can make the aerobic steps kick in if they haven’t already.
- My 10 minute weight training in the morning adds about 30 steps. If that. Yoga also doesn’t add many steps.
- Stride length affects distance.
