PNE fun
Yesterday was opening day at the PNE, so pedometer on belts and juice bottles in backpack, the family braved public transit to make it there just after opening. Admission was free until noon, which saved us about $60. I hadn’t been there on opening day before, so naively thought that we’d be able to get all the shows in. While we didn’t make all of them, due to considerable crowds and lineups, we managed to pack in a lot of fun and steps, and were pretty exhausted by the time we left. There were about 300 people waiting at the bus stop and all the buses that drove past our stop were already full, so we ended up hailing a cab. Thanks to the taxi driver angel who showed up right when we needed him! Public transit sounded like a much better idea before the fair…
As usual, lots of great shopping! I ran in to my friends from the African Fair Trade Society, and restocked my Shea Butter. My favorite scent is not being made any more, but the new citrus ginger is similarly delicate. The kids had fun playing games at the wii exhibit, and there were lots of novelties for us girls to look at too, from kitchen gadgets, to skin care, jewelry and art.

Of course the kids loved seeing all the animals, especially the llamas and alpacas. We also saw a huge bull! We stopped by the Honeybee Centre exhibit, and picked up some delicious pure blackberry blossom honey, and watched a ‘bee beard’ demonstration. Their farm is open to visitors daily, and we plan on visiting their kid-friendly Country Store soon.
We enjoyed the Superdogs Show, which was fun as usual. The children stayed afterwards to meet and pet the dogs, who were really friendly and seemed to enjoy all the attention. There was lots to see and do–the high dive show, wheels of steel, live music, a parade. We didn’t brave the line for the family theatre shows. We did have a lot of fun at the games–winning various stuffies, a giant hammer and a very jazzy hat!
On the way home, I noticed that my pedometer was showing over 10,000 steps! Whew!
