Map my run - review
I stumbled across a fun site yesterday called MapMyRun. It allows you to log swims, hikes, runs, bike rides, like many other sites, but also allows you to map your route, wherever in the world you are. Then you can view it in 3D or satellite maps, or share it with friends. It has a daily log and training schedule where you can track your history and progress. Once a route is integrated into your training schedule, the program tallies things like distance, calories burned, weight loss, even the wear on your shoes! I was able to map out routes from my house to the various parks in the neighborhood. You can also save some time by checking out routes that have already been saved by others, so I was able to check out the stats on the Grouse Grind hike we did recently without too much effort. I don’t think that I’ll be visiting this site on a regular basis — unless maybe I start training for a marathon or something (!) — but it’s a great tool to know about!
